So many precious memories and overwhelming emotions.  How i miss the simple things, like SADDI cuddled closely against me, using my arm as her pill-low.  Watching her paws twitch as she was dreaming, even letting out a high pitched bark.  SADDI stayed next to me the entire night.  And when morning arrived, as i got up to get ready, SADDI let out a moan, laying there, wrapped in a blanket, until it was time to go for a walk.  The beautiful feeling of love,
being in love and being loved was never lost in those moments.  Nor are they now as i live off of those memories.

i had the most beautiful dream last night. SADDI was still with us. Late into the night, our raccoon family came to visit, waking SADDI up. She got up and watched the raccoons eating their treats. Turning to me to share that beautiful smile. Then one of the baby raccoons walked up to the screen door, stood up on their back legs and looked at SADDI. SADDI barked, but it didn't scare the raccoon. SADDI's tail was wagging and she turned again to smile at me. The raccoons knew they were safe and continued eating. SADDI, quietly, kept watching. When the raccoons left, SADDI cuddled closely against and we went back to sleep. The dream was simple and short, but it is always so fulfilling to see SADDI smile.

Cherish Life

The devastating fires across the western United States have caused a thick haze to linger over what is usually a clear view of Vashon Island and the crystal blue waters of Puget Sound. This picture was taken in the early afternoon of a muggy August day ... though it looks like something from mornings in late October (minus the temperature). The fires, destroying human and nature lives, have a sick beauty that affects so much and so many. Another reason, as if we needed another, to ensure we are cherishing all that life has to share. Don't take it for granted, because tomorrow it could be gone or forever changed.
