A wintry Saturday on Alki ... part three

(A little story about this day. It was cold with low clouds. i first did the quarter of a mile to get to the west side of Alki where it was incredibly windy and the waves were roaring to shore. After about a half hour there, and not being able to feel my fingers, i went back to the main beach of beautiful Alki. The wind was as strong, the waves slightly calmer, but still cold ... about 45*. i was doing okay, until i saw the crazy group of people who are out there every weekend. Stripping down to their bikinis and speedo's, then going out into Puget Sound for a swim. i felt a thunderous chill rush through my body and knew i had enough pictures. As i waited for the bus to go home and get warm, i heard that glorious sound. i looked up into the tree's and there was that large eagle, from parts 1 and 2, sitting high in the tree. Quickly i forgot how cold i was, rushed across the street, and started taking numerous pictures. My head tilted way back, because the eagle was near the very top of the tree. People passed by me, some ignoring the guy in the wheelchair blocking the sidewalk, but many others were curious. The are several eagle nest along Alki and if you're lucky you can see them on the beach as they look for a snack. Deep into the trees you can hear their unique singing. If i had a favorite part of Seattle, it is without question Alki. A very popular place in the summer, but even in the dark winter days, still many people come out to explore the sights, enjoy the restaurants and exercise along the paved trail.)
