Today, January 11, is the final morning/evening commute for Seattle’s Alaskan Viaduct. A major roadway to pass through Seattle opened in April 1953, has crumbled over the years and been found to be unsafe in our earthquake zone. The viaduct is nearly as iconic to Seattle as the Space Needle is. Scheduled to be demolished by the end of summer 2019, it will be a major change to the Seattle skyline and waterfront.
