SADDI got away from me twice, each time my heart stopped. One time we were washing and vacuuming out the work van, along side a very busy street. SADDI didn't mind going through the car wash, but she hated it when i had to vacuum the van. Normally she would just sit back, as far as she could from me and the vacuum hose. But this one time, she leaped out of the van and started towards the sidewalk along the busy road. i knew not to go after her because she would have thought it was a game of me chasing her. Instead, i fell to me knees and begged her to come back. Trying to keep my voice calm, though inside i was going insane. As she was just a couple of feet from stepping into the street, she turned and looked at me, tears in my eyes and reaching out my arms for her. She stood there for what seemed like hours, but really only a couple of seconds. That big silly beautiful smile came over her face and she ran back to me. i hugged her so tight and begged her to never do that again. i lifted her into the van and forgot about finishing the vacuuming. She seated her onto the back seat, i closed the door and got into the drivers seat. i looked into the rear view mirror to see SADDI sitting there, nice and comfortable, with that smile that melted me every time. i took a deep breathe before starting up the van and going to the nearby Jack-in-a-Box to get SADDI a hamburger. i think it took my heart another 5 minutes to start beating again.
