And then, without a special setup,
perfect lighting or begging

... just a casual walk in the wilderness ...
SADDI sat and allowed for a holiday card picture to be taken.
SADDI tolerated wearing the antlers
and she loved to wear her scarf,
but she was happiest
enjoying and exploring the great outdoors with her rici.

Gimme Shelter

My special needs squirrel friend took shelter under the shed,
behind the house.
She would struggle over to me
when i tossed out treats
and then return
to enjoy her snack
under the protection of the rain.

For years, i tried to get a holiday themed picture of SADDI to use for the cards we sent out. SADDI just wasn't into it and i'm sure i didn't help. Whenever i put on a silly costume, i couldn't stop laughing. My punishment, SADDI became a diva and refused to pose. i begged, but still laughed. SADDI would just glare at me. As soon as i took off the costume, SADDI would shake and become her usual loving adorable self, ready for a picture ... but without the costume. The pictures i do have, always make me smile because i remember the way she would just look at me. SADDI always knew she was in control.

Yes, She's Spoiled

i was given a very special Thanksgiving gift. During my afternoon nap, i was dreaming that i was calling SADDI, but she wouldn't come out of the bedroom. i looked in, and she was comfortable laying on my pill-low. She just kept looking at me as i continued to call her. For no reason, i just wanted to give her a kiss. Since she was in a stubborn mood, i went into the bedroom, cuddled next to her and gave her numerous kisses. i was then forced to wrap the blanket over both of us and take a nap with SADDI. It was always such a blessing to fall asleep, nose to nose with SADDI and my last vision, before drifting off to sleep, was looking at her.

One of my most cherished memories, was watching SADDI and Devon Yan playing outside. Devon would chase SADDI through the yard and then turn around and let SADDI chase him. The look of joy and happiness and SADDI's face, as she playfully chased Devon, is something i flashback to often.

When life tried to pushed and hold me down,
before SADDI i would just let it.
With SADDI, i could always talk to her
and she would look at me
with those beautiful loving eyes,
and i knew everything would be fine.
SADDI has been gone for over 8 years now,
life still tries to push me down.
i still talk to SADDI,
while looking at the photo's i have of her.
Especially the ones that show
those eyes that always gave me hope and comfort. SADDI, even now, has such a
positive powerful affect upon me.

My Very Special Squirrel Friend

Today i get to spend a little time with my special squirrel friend.
She makes these #adorable groaning noises,
especially when other squirrels are around.
Or if she doesn’t like the treats i’ve given her.
When the other squirrels try to chase her away,
she comes over and stands next to me.
Knowing i’m there to protect her.

i got to spend some time with my special squirrel friend yesterday. Every time she rushes over to me, as best as she can, when i open the door. i offered her a fig newton, she sniffed it then actually knocked it out of my hand ... as if to say “ I don’t want that “ ... then went over to munch on nuts.

SADDI visited me in my dreams last night and it was scary how real it was.   SADDI was laying closely next to me and i was rubbing her soft belly.   In my dreams, i truly was feeling my fingers in her fur.  Of course, i woke up crying.  Because i hold it in myself, no one knows how much i truly miss SADDI.  How much it hurts to cry numerous times during the day of loving and needing her so much.  But i am truly so blessed SADDI visits me in my dreams so often.

Being Silly with the Silly Squirrels

Devon and i went to an art fair, where i saw a hat that looked like SADDI's ears ... but it was too expensive for me to justify buying. Just a few days later, Devon had made me one from one of his shirts. He had extra material, so he made SADDI a collar and put bells on it. SADDI loved to wear. She especially loved to shake her head and ring the bells. i remember we'd be drive around, SADDI sitting in the backseat, ringing her bells and smile ... as if she was reminded us she was there. i always knew she was there, SADDI sat in the middle of the backseat where i could always see her in the rear view mirror.
