It was a beautiful spring day, i decided to stay home with SADDI in our small apartment. i had started boiling some chicken for our dinner and a hard boiled egg. Unexpectedly, a so-called friend came over and wanted me to take him to lunch. i foolishly agreed, even though i knew he was using me, but i was lonely. We walked downtown and went out to lunch. Afterwards we walked down to the waterfront to sit on the grass to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. i asked him if he wanted to see a movie but he said he wasn't feeling well so we returned to my apartment.
From across the busy intersection we could hear an alarm going off, i thought nothing of it until we reached the gate and realized it was coming from main unit upstairs. i unlocked the door, opened it and was hit by a massive wall of smoke. In a moment SADDI came running out and went into the corner of the strip of yard we had. i looked inside and all i could see was smoke. Blindly i made my way inside to reach the windows on the otherside of the room. i was able to open them and the smoke began rolling out. i figured out that when i had left, i forgot to turn off the chicken. The pot was ruined as the chicken was black and down to the bone and the egg the size of a softball. i opened the window in the bedroom and made my way outside to check on SADDI as smoke continued rolling out from the open door and window. i sat down on the sidwalk, my friend seated next to me and SADDI slowly making her way over to me. But when she reached to door, she ran over and closely sat against me.
It was a while that the three of us sat their, but then the friend went home. (Not even a thank you for lunch) i got up to go inside, SADDI stayed on the sidewalk. It was clear, but the entire apartment smelled of smoke, clothes, furniture, walls, etc. It started getting dark and i still couldn't get SADDI inside. i finally had to pick her up and walk her through the apartment to assure it okay. When the sun set, it began to get cold and with all the windows open, our apartment became quite chilly.
i called in sick to work the next day because i didn't feel comfortable leaving SADDI alone and it gave me a day to wash all the clothes, blankets, bedding and get SADDI out of the house with a long walk.
